NEWS ON MEMBERSHIP: NAMI Membership Renewal Guidelines in effect!  These changes are designed to create some consistency regarding membership expiration dates.  Currently, most affiliates assign expiration dates based on the one-year anniversary of the date a person joins NAMI.  Some set a date, such as June 30, when all memberships are due to expire at the same time, regardless of when a person joins.  In order to create a uniform system to all levels of NAMI and to ensure that all members are getting a full year of NAMI membership benefits, we are implementing a new schedule to determine membership expiration dates.  The new schedule will be based on the quarter system.  

Each member of NAMI, whether they join at the local, state, or national level will have one of four expiration dates, regardless of when they join.

For example, quarters run:

July 1 - September 30

October 1 - December 31

January 1 - March 31

April 1 - June 30

Therefore, the four expiration dates will be: September 30, December 31, March 31, and June 30.  If a member joins in May, their expiration date will be June 30 of the following year.  If a member joins in November, their expiration date will be December 31 of the following year, and so forth.

By adhering to this schedule, the entire membership process-for all three levels of NAMI-will run more smoothly.  Having everyone operate on the same system will allow states and affiliates to conduct more effective membership drives and receive a better return on their renewal mailings.  Thank you for your cooperation.  Should you have any questions, contact Linda at the NAMI Illinois State Office.

Remember, as of January 1, 2001 NAMI national dues, are $10.00 and NAMI Illinois' dues are $15.00.
